About Us

We created The Hallowell Road Practice forty-three years ago, opening in June 1981 when it offered Osteopathy, Counselling and Psychotherapy.

The group of practitioners grew quickly over the following few years all of whom were chosen for their dedication, skill and genuinely holistic approach to patient care.  The Osteopaths’ team expanded and practitioners with varying skills joined us to make the clinic multidisciplinary. Currently, we offer Osteopathy, Acupuncture, Massage, Manual Lymph Drainage, Psychotherapy, Vitamin Therapy and Phlebotomy.

The age range of the patients we see knows no limit: we treat newborns, children of all ages and adults even into their 90’s. They come to us with a wide range of needs. All our practitioners are experienced and professional offering effective, safe and gentle approaches to healthcare. Treatments are tailored to the individual regardless of the very varied conditions and clinical requirements they bring to us. Where necessary, our clinicians liaise to work diligently together, cross-referring when appropriate to support the therapeutic process for each patient.

Our patients attend from many parts of the country with a number coming to us from abroad.

Initial consultation will involve comprehensive case-history taking, examination and formulation of a treatment plan. Any further investigations: x-rays, scans, blood tests will be discussed if necessary, and if time permits, treatment might be begun in this initial session.

ROBERT LEVER

BA (Lond), DO, ND

Following an honours degree in Psychology in 1969, I studied and qualified in Osteopathy in 1973 and have practised, lectured and published in the field of Osteopathic Medicine for over 50 years. My teaching and writing has mainly been  orientated towards the philosophy and principles of osteopathic practice, but I have also covered the range of undergraduate educational needs along with post-graduate and conference lectures here and abroad. In 1980, I established an introductory undergraduate course in ‘Cranial Osteopathy’ at the European School of Osteopathy to create a bridge between the craniosacral approach and more mainstream musculoskeletal methods illustrating a continuum within the osteopathic field of practice.

I established the Northwood clinic, The Hallowell Road Practice, in its current premises in 1981 since when I have assembled a group of dedicated like-minded colleagues practising osteopathy and a wide range of clinical skills.  Our practitioners are a team working together with the same ethos of holistic patient care and with treatments that are tailored to each individual and covering all ages, from babies and children to the elderly. Osteopathically, we cover the full spectrum of techniques, from more classically orientated musculoskeletal approaches to the extremely gentle method of ‘cranial osteopathy’, a particular hallmark of the practice. Our range and versatility help us to offer healthcare for many clinical needs, from general constitutional health and well-being to more specific therapeutic requirements.

GERALD LAMB

BSc (Lond), DO

I graduated in 1982 and have a particular interest in Specific Adjusting Technique (SAT) which required a skill in spinal manipulation in areas subject to physical trauma especially the neck after a blow to the head or a whiplash.

As the years have gone by I have also integrated the Cranio-Sacral approach with SAT and have formulated a unique blend of the two so that the work has taken on a precision and gentleness not commonly associated with boney manipulation.I have also found a way of using the 'Cranial' approach to help with emotional and psychological matters and teach this approach in conjunction with SAT.

Daraius Cooper

DO

Qualified as an osteopath in 1987, I utilise both conventional and light touch cranio-sacral techniques.

I treat and care for people of a wide age range, from new-borns to those in their 90s. My experience is diverse, with experience in treating those from all walks of life, including professional violinists and teenage rowers, and also advising on ergonomics.

I gained a teaching qualification through which I taught both under-graduate and post-graduate osteopathy.

My pursuit of continued learning through post-graduate studies has been constant, particularly in the field of cranio-sacral technique. A lifelong dedication to explore the possibilities of greater health in each patient, and the recognition of each patient as a unique person, maintains my fascination, motivation and satisfaction in my professional work as an osteopath.

I value the excellent patient care at our practice and being part of a group of like-minded, dedicated practitioners, sensitive to the value that osteopathy and other disciplines can bring to all.
